Ultra rare Lufthansa Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental arrives in Manila

It is the rarest of the rare. A Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental, or the passenger version of the newest iteration of the classic Boeing 747, is indeed a rare aircraft. With less than 50 operating worldwide, the aircraft is indeed always a standout in every airport. Today, another 747-8I made its way to Manila, and it was not just any Lufthansa 747-8.

It is D-ABYT, the only Lufthansa 747-8I painted in retro Lufthansa colors, and it made its way to the Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for repatriation ops. Plane spotter and airport employee Charleston Felimon who was at the ramp that moment took close photos of this ultra-rare beauty.

This particular aircraft with MSN number 37844 has been in service for Lufthansa for 5 years already, delivered to the airline last March 2015.

Lufthansa's former Boeing 747-200 in the fleet were actually painted in the same livery as seen in the picture below:

It was indeed such a treat to see this rare Boeing 747-8 in Manila. She is indeed such a beauty, which is why this aircraft will forever be known as the "Queen of the Skies". The sight of a Boeing 747-8 was already a treat in Manila, what more of a retro-painted one!

Prior to this, three Lufthansa 747-8I jets have flown in and out of Manila to repatriate German citizens due to the CoviD-19 pandemic worldwide.

Lufthansa does not operate regular flights to Manila and only a handful of airlines worldwide operate this beauty.

The 747 has been around for 50 years but her beauty and grandeur will forever remain.
