Philippine Carriers Extend Suspension of Passenger Flights Til' Mid-May

The Philippines' big-3 airlines Philippine Airlines (PAL), Cebu Pacific, and Philippines AirAsia have extended the suspension of their scheduled international and domestic passenger services until May 15 after the Philippine government has extended the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) over Metro Manila and some regions in Luzon.

In a report from Reuters, the three airlines will however continue to operate cargo services and special repatriation or recovery flights including sweeper flights.

The Philippine government imposed the ECQ over the Luzon region beginning March in order to stop the spread of the Coronavirus which was scheduled to end on April 30. However, the government decided to extend further the ECQ in some areas which are still considered as high risk.
