In a statement, Philippines AirAsia CEO Ricky Isla said, “It is an honor to serve the country and our fellow Filipinos during this time.  AirAsia has always been supportive of our government in this fight against COVID-19. We are grateful for the trust that the DFA has in AirAsia in mounting this special flight."

“We are proud of the frontliners, including government workers and airline crew, who worked together to carry out this mission," he continued.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said, "The successful repatriation is a testament to the DFA’s commitment to extending assistance to overseas Filipinos and their families who wish to return home and reunite with their families in this time of global health crisis.”

To ensure the safety of the flight and all involved, the airline imposes strict regulations and safety measures on all its passengers and baggage in compliance with local governments, civil aviation authorities, and global and local health agencies, including the World Health Organization.
