Cebu Pacific cancels General Santos flights amid LGU travel restrictions

Cebu Pacific has once again cancelled its General Santos City flights from Manila following the decision of the city's local government unit (LGU) to restrict flights.

The cancellation begins on June 6 and shall be in effect until further notice. General Santos is just one of four domestic flights the airline is presently serving on a limited basis after resuming passenger services.

LGUs have different requirements

Airlines have been making adjustments to its domestic schedule as different local government unites (LGU) have different requirements even if they are placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) status. According to Roberto Lim, executive director of Air Carriers Association of the Philippines (ACAP), there are some LGUs that do not want flights to enter even if under GCQ status.

This is the reason why coordination between the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF), airport authorities, and LGUs, are very important to avoid unnecessary cancellation of flights which inconveniences passengers and creates more loses for the airlines who are trying to recover from the recent suspension of flights.
