In a statement from AirAsia, the chartered flight took a total of 14-hours and was coordinated by five local manning agencies whose seamen had been stranded in Bhavnagar for weeks.

Philippines AirAsia CEO Ricky Isla said, "We are pleased to have not only mounted the longest flight ever for AirAsia Philippines but, at the same time, helped repatriate Filipinos overseas. We know how much they have longed to come home and we are honored to be part of their safe return to the Philippines.”

The special flight departed Manila at 7:05am last July 18, Saturday. Given the length of the flight, the aircraft had a scheduled technical stop to refuel at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Bengal, India.

Longest flight in terms of range or flight time?

When it comes to "longest flight", there are two ways of seeing it, longest flight in terms of range or number of miles/nm/kms, or total flying time. We did our search of Z2115 on Flightradar24 however, the flight did not reflect on the tracker.

It is also unclear whether this special flight had Indian nationals on board from Manila to India or was empty. The Airbus A320-200 has an average range of 3,300nm. Manila (MNL) to Ahmedabad International Airport in Gujarat India (AMD) has a total distance of 2,789nm which is within range of the A320. Philippines AirAsia currently operates a fleet of Airbus A320-200ceo aircraft all the way.

There are however factors to consider like headwind, fuel on board, and total weight of aircraft.

What was clear however is that the flight took a total 14-hours from AMD to MNL with a stop at Kolkata or CCU carrying 125 passengers on board.

Hence, AirAsia Philippines logged this as its longest flight in terms of total flight time. It MAY however also be their longest non-stop flight if it flew its A320 from MNL-AMD without any stops, but this has to still be verified.
