Qatar Airways restarts three weekly Doha - Cebu flights starting October

Qatar Airways is restarting three-times weekly flights from Doha to Cebu after an 8-year absence from flying the route.

In a report from Routesonline, 3X-weekly route from Doha’s Hamad International (DOH) to Mactan-Cebu International (CEB) on July 24 using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Service is initially scheduled until Oct. 23. The route was originally scheduled to begin last April but was further postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The airline currently operates 9-weekly flights between Doha and Manila, and one weekly flight between Doha and Clark, Pampanga. 

Second Middle East Airline with flights to Cebu

Qatar Airways is the second Middle East airline to operate flights between the region and Cebu. Emirates began operating the route in March 2016 utilizing a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

The airline last operated the route in March 2012. Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar Al Baker said, “We are delighted to be launching a new direct service to Cebu, offering our passengers another gateway into the Philippines. Being the airline that has never stopped flying since Covid-19 hit, it has been Qatar Airways’ mission to take people home safely during the pandemic, and we have helped more than two million people get home to their loved ones since February."

With the addition of Cebu, Qatar Airways will be operating a total of 13 weekly flights to and from the Philippines.
