Cebu Pacific also said that they will continue to operate limited international routes, namely: Manila-Dubai-Manila, Manila-Seoul (Incheon), Tokyo (Narita)-Manila, Osaka-Manila and Manila-Singapore-Manila.

Flights between Manila and Taipei, along with all other Cebu Pacific international flights, are also cancelled during this time.

Local airline face a more critical moment

The MECQ was declared over National Capital Region (NCR) or Metro Manila after the region experienced a huge surge of Covid-19 cases, averaging 2,000 new cases per day for the last 4 days. Health workers have already requested the Philippine government to put the region under the strictest Community Quarantine level as not to overwhelm the healthcare system.

Airlines was looking forward to continuous operations after lockdowns were eased in order for them to make a faster recovery.

Local airlines Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Philippines AirAsia are now in a critical phase of survival where downsizing is inevitable which may mean the loss of more jobs. More lockdowns may mean more trouble for the airlines which play a very important role in propagating growth in a country's economy.

It is important that Filipinos follow basic safety measures which include:
  • Wearing of face masks properly (and not be worn on the chin)
  • Wash hands and maintain proper cleanliness at all times like frequent hand washing.
  • Maintaining physical distance from one another.
  • Staying home at all times unless it is necessary to step out.
