An Air China Airbus A330-300 caught fire while boarding passengers at Beijing International Airport yesterday. Passengers and crew were immediately evacuated while emergency vehicles were scrambled towards the aircraft. The aircraft finished operating as flight 976 from Singapore and was set to fly to Tokyo as flight 183. No one suffered injuries during the incident and all were accounted for.
The crew quickly evacuated passengers and commenced firefighting measures upon seeing smoke which is believed to have came from the cargo area.
The aircraft suffered substantial damage and it may have to be written-off.
Social media posts taken by passengers shows the fuselage of the twin-engine being engulfed in smoke.
The specific cause of the incident is now under investigation according to Air China.
