India's IndiGo is the recipient of Airbus's 1,000th A320NEO family since it was first launched 4-years ago. The A321NEO is IndiGo's 96th NEO aircraft, presently operating 89 A320NEO and 6 A321NEO. IndiGo is the world's biggest customer of the A320NEO family with orders totalling to 430 aircraft. IndiGo first received its A320NEO last March 2016.
The A320NEO family is a very fast selling aircraft. Compared to the older versions of the A320 which took more than a decade to reach its 1,000th milestone, the A320NEO barely took four years to hit the same milestone.
The A320NEO family presently consists of three variants, the A320NEO, A321NEO, and the A321NEO-LR. The latest variant, the A321XLR is set to launch by 2022 to 2023. The aircraft is also assembled in four Airbus global sites: Toulouse, France; Hamburg, Germany; Tianjin, China; and Mobile, United States of America.
The A320NEO family is popular among Philippine-based carriers Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific (CEB). PAL now operates 7 A321NEOs with 14 more pending deliveries. CEB on the other hand is the country's largest customer of the NEO now operating 3 A320NEO with 7 to be delivered, 3 A321NEO with 29 more to be delivered, and later on, 10 A321XLRs. CEB also has an order of 16 A330-900NEO.
