The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) has turned over the operations and maintenance (O&M) of the Clark International Airport to the Luzon International Premier Airport Development (LIPAD) Corporation last August 16, 2019. DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade and BCDA President and CEO Vivencio Dizon led the turnover ceremony with LIPAD Corp President and CEO Bi Yong Chungunco.
LIPAD Corp is a consortium that consists of of Filinvest Development Corporation, JG Summit Holdings Inc., Philippine Airport Ground Support Solutions Inc., and Changi Airports Philippines (I) Pt. Ltd. JG Summit Holdings Inc. is the parent company of budget airline Cebu Pacific.
CRK terminal 2 is 74.58 percent complete as of July, and will be operational by 2020. It will be able to handle more than 12 million people once completed.
According to a report from the DOTr, the consortium is also set to develop the commercial assets, operate and maintain project facilities, and fit-out the new terminal.
Once completed, the CRK Terminal 2 is expected to help decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport as more airlines will be launching more flights from CRK.
Cebu Pacific is launching flights from CRK to Narita in Japan, Iloilo, and Bacolod.
