Budget airline AirAsia took delivery of its brand new and very first Airbus A330-900NEO. The aircraft will be operated by AirAsia X Thailand which is leased from Avolon. It will be based at Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport in Thailand. AirAsia ordered 100 of this new generation aircraft. Another is to be delivered within the year.
The airline initially ordered 66 and added 34 A330NEOs which brings the total order to 100 units.
The A330-900NEO will have 377 seats with 12 premium flatbeds and 365 economy class seats. The aircraft is powered by Rolls Royce Trent 7,000 engines and has a range of 12,130km.
