Low cost carrier Philippines Air Asia eyes flights to Guam and Saipan after it seeks permission from the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) to fly to the United States. The budget carrier has filed a petition from a designation and entitlement allocations before the board while requesting to revoke the designation of Air Philippines (PAL Express) as Philippine carrier to the United States.
Budget airline AirAsia took delivery of its brand new and very first Airbus A330-900NEO. The aircraft will be operated by AirAsia X Thailand which is leased from Avolon. It will be based at Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport in Thailand. AirAsia ordered 100 of this new generation aircraft. Another is to be delivered within the year.
Former PLDT executive Ricardo "Ricky" Isla was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Philippines Air Asia, Inc. In a statement from PAA yesterday, Ricky Isla will replace Capt. Dexter Comendador who was appointed as the airline's Chief Operating Officer. Ricky Isla was previously the head for business and product development, marketing and sales of PLDT Global Inc.
Philippines Air Asia inked a deal with Omni Aviation to train aspiring pilots for free. The deal provides up to two years of leadership and technical training to aspiring pilots whether already employed with Air Asia or simply anyone else who aspire to be a pilot. This cadet pilot program of Air Asia was formally launched last Wednesday.
