The Philippines and the Kingdon of Morocco has negotiated and initiated an Air Services Agreement (ASA) last September 4-5, 2019 at the office of Direction Generale de l’Aviation Civile in Rabat, Morocco. This will soon allow Filipinos and travellers to enjoy direct flights between the Philippines and Morocco once this one has been finalized.
In a report from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the ASA will open the opportunity for the respective airlines of each country to mount direct flights to and from each other. This on the other hand will result to increase in tourism, boost economic and social relations. To fly to Morocco from Manila, Filipinos will have to make more than one stopover depending on the airline they select.
In the wake of the pending ratification of the ASA, both countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) granting full third and fourth freedom traffic rights for both passenger and cargo.
According to Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines (DFA) Undersecretary Igor G. Bailen, the Philippines will establish an embassy in Morocco next year. This is the seventh ASA of the Philippines in the Africa region.
