Delta has announced that it will be flying its newly delivered Airbus A330-900NEOs to Asia, and last July 10, they flew its NEO from Seattle to Shanghai, according to a report from Forbes. Out of the 80 new airplanes on order by Delta, 35 of them are the A330-900NEOs and now, we take a look at the interiors of this new aircraft. The airline will also be adding routes to Seoul, South Korea, and Narita, Japan from Seattle. We are still unsure if Delta will use this to Manila.
Delta's A330NEOs are intended to replace the ageing and gas-guzzling Boeing 767-400s. Powered by Rolls Royce Trent 7000 engines and having a new wing design almost similar to that of the A350, the A330NEO produces 25% lower fuel burn than that of the previous A330 models like the A330-300 current engine option or CEO. The A330NEO also has a longer range which allows it to fly from Manila to the United States west coast non-stop.
The Delta A330NEO contains 281 seats all-in-all divided into a 4-class configuration namely Delta One Suites in the front, the premium economy section called "Delta Premium Select", and two types of economy class called "Economy Comfort Plus" and the regular economy class. Difference between the economy comfort plus and economy regular are bigger legroom and higher seat pitch.
There are 29 Delta One Suites in the forward section of the aircraft with a 1-2-1 abreast layout so every passenger has direct access to the aisle. Each seat reclines to full flat, and are equipped with an 18-inch HD screen. They also have individual doors for more privacy.
Next to the One Suites is the premium economy section called "Premium Select". This contains 28 premium economy seats in a 2-3-2 layout. Each seat can recline up to seven inches and have a 38 seat pitch. Premium economy section is now a common feature of legacy carriers in Asia and those serving the Asian market.
The economy class will have a 2-4-2 abreast seat layout. There are 56 Economy Comfort Plus seats which basically have bigger legroom and higher seat pitch. For the regular economy, the aircraft is equipped with 168 seats with a 33 inch seat pitch.
Delta's A330-900neo is also the airline's first widebody aircraft to feature the airline’s new wireless in-flight entertainment system aboard, and is equipped with high-speed 2Ku internet.
