We are all aware about the issue between Philippine Airlines (PAL) and United Airlines (UAL). Well just to recap, there is an ongoing squabble between the two airlines. PAL is applying to open a direct link between Manila and Seattle to the US Department of Transportation (DOT). However, UAL has asked the DOT to stop this until they (UAL) are granted more slots in Manila for their services between Manila and Guam.

It was envisioned to be the "future" of long-haul air travel. Many low cost carriers have attempted to set forth and go the longer miles but have folded those routes eventually. So we now wonder if long-haul low-cost will be the thing of the future. Just recently, AirAsia X announced that it wants to fly California via Japan. The same airline though folded up their London and Paris flights.
Before his retirement which was effected yesterday, June 30, the Centre for Aviation or CAPA had a one-on-one interview with long time PAL President and COO Jaime J. Bautista where he talked about the ANA strategic partnership, the Airbus A350 operations, the possibility of dropping the London route in exchange of a different one, the A321NEO long haul operations, and growth.
