United Airlines is seeking from the United States' Department of Transportation (DOT) to defer the request of Philippine Airlines (PAL) to add flights between Manila and Seattle in May until it can secure more slots in Manila, the airlines said in a filing last Monday. The Philippines and the US do not have an open skies agreement, hence, the DOT must approve PAL's request to add flights from Manila to Seattle.

United Airlines (United) is seeking to block the proposed code-share agreement between Philippines Airlines (PAL) and Air Philippines (PAL Express) covering flights between Manila and Guam, United States (US), as it seeks to obtain more slots at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). In a report from Ch-Aviation, United has reiterated that the application seeks benefits that are currently being denied to them.
