Airline safety and product rating website AirlineRatings.com has named Cebu Pacific as the "Most Improved Airline for 2020". The budget airline has been cited for becoming a major player in bringing affordable air travel to the Philippines. The website also noted Cebu Pacific's fleet improvement taking note of its very modern aircraft. By 2025, Cebu Pacific is set to be an all-Airbus NEO aircraft operator.
This is also the very first time where the Most Improved Airline of the Year from AirlineRatings.com were won by major airlines in the Philippines for two consecutive years. Philippine Airlines was named Most Improved Airline of the Year for 2019 by the same website.
In their website, AirlineRatings.com Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas said, “Cebu Pacific has become a major part of the fabric of life in the Philippines bringing affordable travel to most. The airline has a very modern fleet and operationally is now up there with the best.”
Just recently, Cebu Pacific finalized an order of 16 Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. The airline will be using this for regional flights, Middle East, and Australian destinations.
The airline also has pending commitments for 10 A321XLR and 5 A320neo aircraft. The airline looks to replace its present fleet with new Airbus NEO aircraft, NEO meaning New Engine Option. This will allow the airline to enjoy a lower cost per mile advantage while being able to carry more passengers to farther destinations.
Philippine based carriers have been improving their fleet, product, safety ratings, and services in a bid to make the Philippines a major aviation hub in Asia. Both Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific have been pushing the envelopes to improve their services. Aside from acquiring newer and modern aircraft, both airlines have been working to improve passenger services and experience.
