Abu Dhabi based Etihad Airways will be halting all its passenger flights effective March 25 as a result of a directive by the United Arab Emirates government amid the Coronavirus Disease (CoviD-19) outbreak. The suspension of passenger flights will initially be in effect for 14 days.
In an official statement, Etihad said that the decision to suspend all flights from, and via Abu Dhabi has been made to help contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus, and to protect the UAE, its nationals, residents and visitors, as well as all passengers connecting in Abu Dhabi with onward flights.
The airline however maintained that cargo services remain unhampered and emergency evacuation flights will still continue,
Just a few days ago, Emirates has suspended majority of its passenger flights after it made a last minute decision not to push through with the cancellation of all its flights.
