Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is set to reintroduce the Cebu - Los Angeles (LAX) non-stop services beginning May 2, 2020. This will be the fastest and only direct link between the Visayas - Mindanao (VisMin) region to the United State of America (USA). Residents from the VisMin region will be able to enjoy direct and convenient connections via Cebu to Los Angeles, America's Entertainment Capital and Southern California gateway.
With the opening of the Cebu - Los Angeles service, PAL's network offering to the USA, Canada, and U.S. Territory of Guam will increase to a total 64 flights.
PAL will be flying to Cebu thrice a week utilizing the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft which can comfortably seat 370 passengers in a two-class configuration (business and economy). The Boeing 777 is the world's best selling widebody aircraft of all time, exceeding 2,000 orders from different airlines globally.
Flight PR152 from Cebu to Los Angeles departs at 9pm every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (Cebu time) and arrives in Los Angeles at 7:30pm the same day (Los Angeles time). The return flight PR153 from Los Angeles to Cebu departs at 11:30pm (Los Angeles time) every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, touching down in Cebu 2-days later at 5:00am (Cebu time).
The latest-version of the PAL B777 features a fully-flat bed in business class, with an 18.4-inch TV screen, retractable privacy dividers, an ottoman which doubles as a storage area, and in-seat power and USB ports. Economy class features a seat pitch of up to 34 inches, and each seat is equipped with 11-inch TV screens and USB ports.
PAL President and COO Gilbert Sta. Maria said, "We look forward to treating our customers to the fastest flights between the US Mainland and the Visayas / Mindanao region, via PAL's new Cebu-LAX route. Our upcoming service from Cebu to LA is a vivid demonstration of our commitment to build up Mactan Cebu as a global aviation hub, a dynamic gateway, not only to domestic points, but to major international destinations,"
"Los Angeles and the USA now joins Tokyo, Osaka, Bangkok, Nagoya and Seoul in the list of PAL overseas destinations served from Cebu," Sta. Maria added.
The new service will help boost Philippine tourism particularly in the VisMin region as US-based leisure and business travelers can now avail of the fastest and easiest travel option. It will now take a single non-stop flight to the Queen City of the South versus others which involve transfers and taking connecting flights in other Asian-airports. Moreover, American tourists may now take advantage of Mactan Cebu International Airport's hub transit facilities to transfer to connecting PAL flights from Cebu to Siargao, Camiguin, Davao, Boracay, Coron, Bacolod, Iloilo and other destinations in the Philippines.
PAL used to operate direct Cebu to Los Angeles flights from March 2016 to May 2017.
PAL is the largest airline operator in the Philippines-North America market with direct non-stop flights from Manila to Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Honolulu in Hawaii, and both Vancouver and Toronto in Canada. PAL's non-stop Manila to New York is the 8th longest non-stop flight in the world to date.
PAL recently announced the opening of 3 international routes which include flights between Manila and Perth beginning March 30; Zamboanga and Kota Kinabalu beginning March 29; and between Davao and Manado beginning March 29.
