Philippine Airlines's very first brand new Airbus A321NEO ACF took its first commercial flight today from Manila to Davao and back early this morning. The aircraft with registry RP-C9937 took off for Davao from Manila as PR1809 at 3:45am and arrived back at 7:50am, 30 minutes before scheduled arrival. ACF stands for Airbus Cabin Flex wherein the aircraft can accommodate more passengers compared to the first six A321NEO delivered to Philippine Airlines.
An ACF configuration allows more passenger seats. This is done by removing door #2 and having 2 overwing exits then followed by door 3 and 4. Compared to the first six A321NEOs delivered to Philippine Airlines which seats 168 passengers in a 2-class configuration, the A321NEO ACF will sit 195 in a 2-class configuration.
We still cannot provide full details as of the moment but definitely, the business class seats of the ACF are different from first six. The aircraft however is still equipped with seatback inflight entertainment systems. Fourteen more A321NEO ACFs are set to join Philippine Airlines in the few coming years. They will be used for regional flights and we feel this would be a great product for such routes.
