Philippines AirAsia (PAA) has announced that it is now accepting applicants for its Pilot Cadet Program where the airline will train young aspiring pilots. This is a partnership between PAA and Omni Aviation Corporation where successful cadets will undergo two years of technical and leadership training in order to pass and meet the standards required by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
“AirAsia is proud to have the best pilots in the country and we will strive to train more young cadets with our partner Omni Aviation Corporation. Through the ‘Dare to Fly! The Allstars Cadet Pilot Program’, we invite Filipinos to dare to dream with AirAsia," said Ricky Isla, PAA Chief Executive Officer.
PAA will partially advance training costs for AirAsia employees who are accepted in the program and the successful pilot graduates will be given the opportunity to work for the airline. PAA uses a fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft.
In a statement, those interested are required to register via the QR code on the website answer a free eligibility test. Applications are open to Filipino citizens who are 21 to 28 years of age and are college graduates of any course. The application period runs until 20 February 2020.
The program aims to release at least 10 for its first batch.
According to AirAsia, 1,000 successful applicants will qualify based on the eligibility test results and 300 applicants will proceed to the final stages of the selection process. These include further assessment tests to measure applicants’ cognitive and psychomotor skills. However, corresponding fees of succeeding tests in the selection process are to be shouldered by the applicant.
Those who make the selection process will then be invited for the final phase which will determine the first batch of aspiring cadet pilots who will be enrolled on the program.
