A Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737-800 crashed shortly after taking-off from Tehran's Imam Khoemeni Airport in Iran early today, Wednesday, January 8. 167 passengers and 9 crew members were on board. Flight PS752 was headed for the Ukranian capital Kiev when the incident happened. The aircraft crashed near Parand, a suburb southwest of capital Tehran shortly after take-off.
In a report from AlJazeera, Iran's Red Crescent earlier said that there were no chance of finding survivors.
Based on flight tracker FlightRadar24, the Boeing 737-800 with registry UR-PSR was scheduled to depart from Tehran at 5:15am but actually departed at 6:12am. It was scheduled to arrive Kiev at 8:00am Ukrainian time.
A video posted on Iran's ISNA showed a faint light moving in the dark which was followed by a huge fireball. Photos posted on ISNA showed the wreckage of the aircraft scattered in the area.
Reza Jafarzadeh, spokesman of the Iranian Aviation Organisation, said "An investigation team from the national aviation department was dispatched to the location after the news was announced. We will give more reports in upcoming bulletins."
Boeing in a statement said that they are aware of the media reports of the incident and that it is "gathering more information."
